the gift of the [Peeble?] in the City of Charleston and you can just bet that a fellow has to be a awfull good fellow, or he gets left every time he Runs for it or one like it.

Cousine George I can't help but informing you also, that last Year at a meeting of the Grand Lodge of I.O.O.F. held in one City, I was mate [sic] Grand Marshall of the State of West Virginia leading a prossecion [sic] of 600 Members, and Recieving a Medal for my Good Work. I onley [sic] let you know of this last part because you know what a Honer [sic] of the Kind may be to a fellow like me, and you knowing all about the Order. Cousin G. will close with full expectation to visset [sic] you all, we have now 3 children and thank God their [sic] all well and so we are all, Mother would like for you to answer as soon as possible I have last Sunday a week ago send a letter to you
