Dear Hans,

I thank you for you last letter. Your pictures are very nice. You look like a real American. How are you doing, and what is the status of the business with Schorsch? He waits every day for an answer from you. From Saturday until yesterday (Monday), I was in Schwabach for the parish fair. A lot more exhibitors than last year. I also was at Eberhard’s and he told me to send you his best. He has just started his own business.

How did you celebrate your birthday? Did you get our wonderful flower bouquet? Hans, how is Tante? She never writes anymore, and I am so curious. I’m sorry that you have to work so very hard. Hope things get easier for you soon. Don’t send anything for Christmas Hans, OK. You need your money for yourself.

My doctor certified me for 2/3 disability because of my ears. I think I will get a monthly benefit of about 30 (marks).

We planted violets, nightshade, and forget-me-nots on Hanna’s grave. They look very beautiful. Once the gravestone is in place, we will send you photos.
